Workshop Tips: How to Make Your Virtual Or Live Workshop A Success

how to choose a wood planer

It doesn't matter if you are hosting a virtual or live workshop, there are some key points to remember in order to make it a success. You will learn about creating the atmosphere for a workshop and time management. Your workshop gives your participants the chance to get to know you and your company better. You should also include fun activities and Q & A sessions to keep people engaged and interested.

Creating a workshop atmosphere

You need to take into consideration a range of factors when creating a workshop environment. The dynamics of a group can vary enormously from very quiet and apathetic to highly responsive and volatile. The type and format of the workshop will depend on how well participants know each other and what type of workshop they are taking part in. A workshop that is very quiet and argumentative could prove deadly. However, a lively workshop with lots of movement might be the best for discussion. The group can be broken up into smaller groups that can work together to solve the problems.

How to manage time in a virtual workshop

Virtual workshops require a different mindset than traditional meetings when it comes to managing time. Each activity must be planned carefully and prioritized in order to be efficient. Virtual meetings need multiple breaks every 10 minutes. These breaks should be well spaced. A virtual workshop should also include soft-timed activities. For example, instead of a 45-minute workshop, participants can schedule three-minute talks to keep the energy levels up.

Including Q & A sessions

Including Q & A sessions in your workshop is one of the best ways to build trust between employees and your company leadership. Open Q&As allow employees to share their feedback and help to create an environment that encourages inclusion and diversity at work. The number of interactions between employees, leadership and management is decreasing as companies increasingly move to remote work arrangements. Q&A sessions provide a safe environment where employees can ask questions and receive honest responses. A Q&A session will help dispel disruptive rumors and promote two-way communication between employees and management.

Creating a breakout room

A breakout room is a great way to keep your workshop participants on track, regardless of whether they are large or small. There are many ways you can set up a break-out room. A room with multiple breakouts is best if your workshop is led by multiple instructors. However, this may not work if the workshop is live. Here are some ideas to make your workshop breakout rooms work best.

Setting a clear agenda

An agenda will help everyone know what the workshop is about. It is important that everyone involved in the workshop has a clear understanding about the objectives and expectations. These are some ways to ensure that the agenda is as complete as possible.

Setting clear house rules at the start of a workshop

Despite the many differences in facilitating workshops, there are some common principles that all successful workshops share. The workshop's main focus should be on the objectives. Activities will vary depending on who is participating. These guidelines will allow you to create a positive and productive workshop. Before you begin your workshop, set clear house rules. Follow them carefully and you'll have a more effective, enjoyable workshop.

How To

How to make wooden joints

This tutorial will show how to join 2 pieces of wood together. The "pocket hole joint" is a method whereby we drill holes into the wood and glue them together. This method works great if your wood is straight and smooth. Try dowel joinery instead if your wood doesn't look straight. Here are the steps

  1. Drill Pocket Hole Joints. First, measure the area where you wish to place the pocket joint. You will then drill 3/4" deep holes through each piece of wood with a jigsaw, handheld drilling machine, or hand-held drill.
  2. Sand Smooth. Sanding the wood's edges will ensure that the joint doesn't split.
  3. Glue both sides together. Apply glue to the sides of both wood. Let it sit for about 5 minutes before clamping the pieces together.
  4. Secure the pieces together. Once the glue has dried, clamp the pieces together so they are flush.
  5. Trim Joinery. After the glue dries, trim any excess wood around your joint.

Be sure to leave enough space between each piece so that they can be turned inside-out.
